Description
The VARI-SPEED Tape Deck is a Tape machine modified to allow the speed of the motor to be adjusted manually!
Normally tape cassettes are recorded and played at 4.76 cm/s.
By slowing the tape down it’s possible to modify the pitch of the tape recording. Slowing down gives lower deep pitches which speeding up increase the pitch.
The tape deck itself can be used in 4 modes depending upon the slide switch position.
USB BLUETOOTH
LINE IN
TAPE
OFF
The furthest position to the right turns the machine off.
Moving the switch to the next position – TAPE – Turns on the tape machine. Now you can listen to a cassette tape using the built in speaker or line out jack.
The next position is labelled – LINE IN – In this mode the audio input to the machine can be heard using speaker or line out jack. Ideal for monitoring the audio signal you are recording.
The USB Bluetooth mode is labelled – USB BT – In this mode you can connect your phone via Bluetooth to the tape machine! Quickly record to the tape. Also the USB sticks play MP3 files which can be selected using the buttons on the front and then recorded to tape!
The cassette lid can be removed and installed. Here’s a quick video explaing how to install it, to revome it the process is the opposite
Over time I plan to add a number of options for Futher modification once I have become more accustomed to this new tape machine circuitry.
